Greetings,
Welcome to the first Math Lesson. The format will include a short video that will review math topics, then there will be questions to answer. Many of the questions will be autograded when you submit at the end of a lesson. I will grade the other questions at least twice per week, so you will know your score in a day or two after you submit. Also, I may add a comment to your answer in Formative. You can also ask me questions through the comment feature in Formative or email me directly at rshaw@fergflor.org.
As lessons are released, they will stay open for about five weeks, so if you miss a week because of a trip, you can catch up. You can also redo any questions or lessons as many times as you wish.
Let's get started with Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shaw
First, let's start out testing solutions to inequalities. For example, if x > 3, would -5 be a solution?
A student was trying to represent the following sentence using an algebraic expression:
h times 3
Sort the answer options into either correct or incorrect.
h3
3h
3xh
3 / h
h to the third power
Correct!
Incorrect
Solve this inequality for x: 2x < 4
What are some solutions to the above inequality? Click all that apply.
2 + 5 = 7 + 1
9 - 7 = 8 - 6
3 + 2 - 1 = 5 - 1.
(3 + 2) x 2 = 5 x 2
(4 + 2) ÷ 2 = 6 ÷ 2
I have some fish. After buying 6 more fish, I will have 27 fish. How many fish do I have right now?
8x = 24
find X
Please show your work. You can write on the whiteboard or write it out on paper and upload a photo.
How long did it take you to complete this lesson?
