Ann was going to see her grandmother, and she was bringing her a surprise. Mother said, “Do you think Grandmother will like her new friend?” “I think so,” said Ann. “She likes cats.” A little kitten was sitting on Ann’s lap. The kitten was purring softly. “Will you be sad when you give Fluffy to Grandmother?” asked Mother. “No,” said Ann. “We have our own cats, and I want Grandmother to have a friend.” Ann’s mother stopped the car. She got out of the car and opened the door for Ann. Ann got out of the car. She carried Fluffy in her arms. They walked to the porch and mother knocked on the door. Ann couldn’t wait to see Grandmother’s face.
