Sally woke up early on Saturday morning feeling excited. Today was the day of the town carnival! She had been looking forward to this event for weeks. Sally got dressed in her favorite outfit and went downstairs for breakfast. She quickly ate her cereal before running outside to wait for her best friend Jake to come pick her up. They had made plans to spend the entire day together riding rides, playing games, and eating cotton candy.

Jake soon arrived and the two friends set off for the carnival. When they got there, Sally was amazed by all of the sights and sounds. Brightly colored rides spun around while carnival music filled the air. The smell of popcorn, hot dogs, and other tasty treats made Sally's stomach grumble. "Let's go on the bumper cars first!" said Jake, pointing to the ride. Sally agreed and they rushed over to get in line.

After bumping into each other over and over in the electric bumper cars, it was time for a treat. Sally and Jake decided to share an extra-large cotton candy. Sally loved how the candy melted in her mouth and left her lips sticky. Next, they tried some games on the midway. Jake was determined to win a prize. He tried the ring toss, the water gun race, and the basketball free throw but had no luck.

Finally, at the last booth, his basketball shot swished through the hoop. "We have a winner!" announced the game attendant. Jake could pick any prize he wanted from the top shelf. He chose a huge stuffed elephant and gave it to Sally. She squeezed it tight and named it Ellie. Sally was having a fantastic day with Jake. She wished it would never end.

After playing a few more games, Sally and Jake decided to go on the Ferris wheel. From the top, they could see the entire carnival. Sally felt like she was on top of the world. Suddenly, she felt raindrops. The sunny sky had turned dark with clouds. A loud clap of thunder boomed as lightning flashed across the sky. All of the rides shut down as a heavy rainstorm started.

Sally was disappointed that she had to leave the carnival early because of the storm. She had been having so much fun with Jake. As they walked home in the rain, Sally hugged her stuffed elephant Ellie tightly. Even though their day got cut short, Sally was thankful for the fun adventures she had with her best friend. The carnival rides, yummy food, and special prize made it a day she would always remember.

Jake dropped Sally off at her house. She went inside to dry off from the rain. Sally's mom made her take a warm bath and bundle up in pajamas afterwards. While sipping hot cocoa, Sally told her mom all about the highlights of her day at the carnival with Jake. She couldn't wait to go back again next year. Sally gave Ellie a big squeezing hug. Even though the day ended early, she knew she would cherish the memories forever.

That night, Sally dreamed happy dreams about the carnival. She rode the rides, played games, and ate cotton candy with Jake in her sleep. Sally woke up the next morning still clutching Ellie tightly. She remembered the fun adventures she shared with Jake at the carnival. Even though the day had ended early because of the rainstorm, it was a day full of special memories Sally would always treasure. Ellie the elephant would forever remind Sally of the excitement of the carnival.
