Scenario: After a visit to the arboretum, Alicia decided she wanted to grow orchids. She began researching what she would need in order to grow beautiful plants like those at the arboretum. The orchid she really liked, a Barkeria orchid, did not require soil and was a beautiful purple color that would match her bedroom. Alicia’s parents ordered the orchid and planted it in a glass bowl with a little gravel for support. Alicia poured some water into the bowl and placed it near her bedroom window. The orchids thrived in Alicia’s bedroom. She knew she had made the right decision.
