Learning Objectives
- In this skill we will learn the relationship between density (D), mass (m), and volume (V).
- Mass is "how much stuff" is inside an object, and is usually measured in g.
- Volume is "how much space" an object takes up, and is usually measured in cm³.
- Density is "how tightly packed" the stuff inside an object is, and is usually measured in g/cm³.
Equations
- Density: D = m / V
Tips
- Be sure to look at the units carefully - they are really helpful! For example, if you see a quantity is measured in g/cm³, it must be density!
