Musical instruments are true works of art. The next
time you are around a musical instrument, take a
moment and look at it. You will agree that it is beautiful.
The stringed instruments like the violin or guitar are
among the most beautiful. Many of them are made of
pretty hardwoods. The wood has been shaped tastefully.
Even the feel of these instruments is very special.
A piano is a stringed instrument. It is not a delicate
beauty like a violin. It is a grand work of art, especially
when the top is opened. The shape of a grand piano is
so complex that it can be overwhelming. Then there is
the contrast of the black and white keys as well as the
technical look of the wires inside the piano.
The brass instruments are marvelous with their
intricate shapes and shiny metal. A giant tuba looks
so complicated that you can’t imagine a human ever
creating one. Then there is the trombone with its slide
that leaves you wondering how it works.
Drums are a very different kind of art. They are
dramatic and seem to invite enthusiastic playing, which
is what drummers do. Watching a great drummer is an
experience that is difficult to forget, especially because
of the sound effects.
The simplest instrument is probably the triangle. You
can’t get much simpler than a triangle made of metal.
This is considered a percussion instrument because you
tap it with a piece of metal.
The people who play instruments understand how
beautiful they are. In addition, they consider them
personal friends, and you almost never see a musician
treat an instrument other than lovingly.
