Making a solution is useful to humans.

We do it every time it gets cold out to change one of the physical properties of ice: its melting point.

Complete the lab investigation below and Complete the following components of a lab write up.

You may use paper, formative, or a combination to submit your answers.

If you are using a combination because sure to mark which questions are on formative on your paper.

1.

a. group members names

b. How are you completing this assignment (Paper or Formative or Both)

c. If using formative which group member will be submitting the completed work?

The following questions are for outcome SK1: Ask questions about observed relationships, and plan investigations of questions, ideas, problems and issues.

They are your predictions for the lab and must be completed in full.

SK3- Analysis Question #1

(a) Which beaker reached the lowest temperature?

(b) Was there any liquid in that beaker?

6.

SK3- Analysis Question #2

At what temperature did each mixture boil?

7.

SK3- Analysis Question #3

• In one, place the boiling temperature on the y-axis and

the amount of salt added on the x-axis.

• In the other, compare the temperature of the ice mixture

to the amount of salt added.

Remember Graphs need the following:

1.Labels with units

2. Titles

3. Scales that go up equal amounts

4. The graph should take up as much of the graph paper as possible

SK3- Analysis Question #5

Is the melting point of the salt water mixture lower or

higher than that of pure water?
