Find midpoints and measure distance in the coordinate plane.

Congruent: Equal measure

Midpoint: Point that divides the segment into two congruent segments, the middle point.

Segment Bisector: A point, ray, line, line segment or plane that intersects the segment at its midpoint.

1.

Name two possible segment bisectors of line segment AB. Remember a segment bisector can be a POINT, SEGMENT, LINE OR RAY that bisects a line. Pick two answers that work.

Line MR is the segment bisector of segment ST. Find the length of ST. (Hint: Do NOT just find x, be sure you find the length of the whole segment.)

5.

Endpoints of line segment AB are given. Find the coordinates of the midpoint M. Show your work using the midpoint formula.

A(-3,2) and B(9,2)

Find the coordinates of the other endpoint of line segment YZ given midpoint M. You can use desmos to graph it and upload a screenshot, or show your work algebraically here.

M(2,5), Y(2,3)
