Use the data in both tables and any research sources available to design a guide for householders outlining the causes and effects of background radiation.
Remember: only include facts, not opinions, and quote any sources you use in your guide.
In your guide you could do the following.

· Link the various background sources to the type of radiation (alpha, beta or gamma).
· Identify any groups who might be at a particular risk (nuclear workers, medical staff, etc.).
· Offer advice on how these groups of people might minimise the risk.
· State how the level of background radiation might have changed over time (i.e. which sources are ‘modern’).
