Objective: KWBAT build an interactive model of an everglades swamp ecosystem and use the model to explain how the removal of an organism would affect the other organisms.

Food Web Model
We can’t bring an ecosystem into the classroom. Even if we could, it would be impossible to see the molecules in organisms and trace them back to where they came from.

Food Web Model Directions
  1. Move through the ecosystem and look for something you eat or something that eats you.
  2. When you find something you eat or that eats you, hold on to the yarn. If there is no yarn in your food web yet, stay close to the others in your food web.
  3. Once you have four organisms in your food web, sit in a circle and say, "Food web!"
  4. The model is complete when all organisms are part of a food web.
