Question 1
1.
What does the chameleon eat in this food chain?
1
We can’t bring an ecosystem into the classroom. Even if we could, it would be impossible to see the molecules in organisms and trace them back to where they came from.
Food Web Model Directions
Move through the ecosystem and look for something you eat or something that eats you.
When you find something you eat or that eats you, hold on to the yarn. If there is no yarn in your food web yet, stay close to the others in your food web.
Once you have four organisms in your food web, sit in a circle and say, "Food web!"
The model is complete when all organisms are part of a food web.
Question 3
3.
The cubes for represent food/body matter (molecules) for each organism (living thing).
What was happening to the molecules in the ecosystem as the cubes (the matter) were getting passed from one organism to the next?
Criteria For Success:
Explain what happened to the molecules when one organism ate another organism.
Explain where did all the food molecules go.
The Food Web Model can help us think about how matter flows when something in the ecosystem changes.
