Dr. George Gey was given a sample of cells from Henrietta's tumor and from those he began growing the world's first immortal human cell line. It was an incredible breakthrough in medical science.

Do you feel that Dr. Gey acted ethically in sending the cells that he grew to other scientists all around the world?

Factors to consider:

2. Henrietta didn't want the cancer cells in her body.
3. Was there communication with the Lacks family about the use of Henrietta's cells and their potential impact?
