...wanted her books to be enjoyable for both herself and her readers.

...was determined to do her best in many areas of her life.

...thought her writing would improve by switching from fiction back to nonfiction.

She wants her readers to cry before they finish one of her books.

She puts great thought and care into the books she writes.

She is both an author and teacher.

Her goal is for children to understand her life and where she has been.
