At North Colonie, it is our mission to ensure all students are provided the opportunity and necessary support to engage in relevant, challenging work which contributes to their academic and social growth and development.

Humanizing ourselves in the classroom is essential for building trust and fostering meaningful connections with children, which enhances their engagement and learning.
What is something about yourself that you can share with students?

What is something that you can do in each classroom to promote a welcoming and affirming classroom?
Verbal encouragement and positive acknowledgment of student work can promote productivity in the classroom.

If a student is displaying undesired behavior, and things start to escalate, I can check in with a neighboring teacher to seek advice about next steps.

Arriving early allows you to become familiar with the school, review the plans and daily schedule, and introduce yourself to the teachers in neighboring classrooms.

Who can you check in with for clarification on plans, routines, or schedules throughout the day?

If you manage a situation during the day without issues, you should not inform the regular teacher about it.
