Task 1: Analyzing the Causes of the Civil War (AKS 35a)

• Slavery: Discuss the role slavery played in Georgia's economy and society, and how it was a major point of contention between the North and South.
• States' Rights: Explain how the South believed in states’ rights, particularly the right to make decisions about slavery without federal intervention.
• Nullification: Describe the nullification crisis, where Southern states, including Georgia, argued that they could reject federal laws they disagreed with.
• The Compromise of 1850: Summarize how this series of laws attempted to resolve issues between slave and free states and how Georgia responded.
• The Georgia Platform: Explain Georgia's agreement to support the Compromise of 1850 but with conditions that emphasized the protection of slavery and states' rights.
• Dred Scott Case: Discuss how the Supreme Court ruling on the Dred Scott case influenced Georgia’s stance on slavery and federal intervention.
• Abraham Lincoln’s Election in 1860: Explain how Lincoln's election was a key event that pushed Georgia and other Southern states toward secession.
• Debate over Secession in Georgia: Discuss the internal debate within Georgia on whether to secede from the Union or remain.

1. Script Writing: Write a script using Google Docs or Slides that explains each key topic clearly and concisely. This will be your guide when creating the video.
2. Filming/Recording: Film your video using a tool like TikTok, Screencastify, or another video editing software. Make sure you speak clearly and engage your audience with visuals or props where possible.
3. Editing the Video: Use editing tools like CapCut or Movie to polish the video. Add in graphics, historical images, or animations to make your points clearer.
4. Submit Your Video: Once you are satisfied with your video, download it and upload it to your Google Site or a viewable platform.
