Article: The History of Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a Jewish teenager who became one of the most well-known victims of the Holocaust. Born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam in 1933 to escape the growing persecution of Jews under Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime.
In 1942, when the Nazis began deporting Jews to concentration camps, the Frank family went into hiding in a secret annex behind her father's business. Along with another family and a friend, they remained hidden for two years. During this time, Anne wrote extensively in her diary, detailing her thoughts, fears, and hopes for the future.
Tragically, the family was discovered and arrested in 1944. Anne and her sister, Margot, were sent to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died of typhus in early 1945. Anne's father, Otto Frank, was the only survivor of the family. After the war, he published Anne’s diary, which became an international symbol of resilience and hope amidst unimaginable suffering.
Anne Frank’s story serves as a reminder of the consequences of prejudice and hatred, as well as the strength of the human spirit.
