A student is researching what the Missouri Botanical Garden offers to visitors. Which three research questions would best guide the student’s research?
A student is writing a research report about the early history of animation. Read the source the student found. Circle the sentence number of the sentence in which the author makes a claim that is not credible.
Source
1Some of us may have been creative enough to draw a figure at the bottom of each page of a spiral notebook and make the figure “move” by flipping the pages quickly. 2Even so, many people today think that one needs a computer to create animation. 3However, cave paintings have been found in France that were drawn around 28,000 BCE. 4These amazing drawings must be an intentional first form of animation. 5The unsteady light of nearby flickering flames made birds appear to be flapping their wings and horses appear to be galloping after one another.
A student found sources for a report about the migration of monarch butterflies across North America. Use the table to identify which sources are relevant or not relevant to the topic.
Relevant | Not Relevant | |
|---|---|---|
a scientific study about conservation efforts to protect monarch butterflies | ||
a map showing the paths north and south that monarch butterflies usually travel twice a year | ||
a national park website that describes the monarch butterflies that regularly pass through the area | ||
a blog entry of a photographer who posts pictures of monarch butterflies |
A student is researching the health benefits of eating honey. The student found two sources
and wants to know whether the information found in Source A is accurate. Select the sentence number of the sentence in Source B that best supports the information in Source A.
Source A
There have been many assertions made about the wondrous impact of honey on health.
Some of these assertions have been based on research studies conducted with small
sample sizes. Other assertions have been exaggerated or based on conflicting results. So,
claims that honey is a miracle food may not be well supported.
Source B
1Many people believe that raw honey, which comes directly from the beehive, contains nutrients that make it better than regular honey. 2As a result, raw honey may provide more dynamic health advantages. 3Although many people consume raw honey, research studies have not proven this theory. 4The studies that have been conducted on honey as a sweetener, however, suggest that it may keep blood sugar levels more stable than refined
sugar.
A student is preparing for an oral presentation on the health benefits of drinking enough water. The student found several sources. Which sources would provide the most relevant and credible information about the topic? Choose two answers.
A student is writing a report about the invention of soda pop. Read the source that the student found.
Source
Three popular sodas were invented in the late 1800s. Dr. Pepper was created by Charles
Aderton in 1885 and was publicly introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis,
Missouri. Aderton claimed that Dr. Pepper contained energy-boosting properties that
helped improve memory. Coca–Cola was invented in May 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia. It was
first sold in a pharmacy for five cents a glass. When Pepsi was created, it proved so
popular that its founder incorporated the Pepsi-Cola Company in 1902.
The student wants to include information from the source in the report but does not want to
plagiarize the author’s ideas. Read the paragraph from the student’s report and select the
sentence number of the sentence that is plagiarized.
Student's Paragraph
