For #1, write the sentence below and fill it in correctly based on what the video is about to say!

"At resting membrane potential, the cell is more ____ inside the cell than outside."

Note: Do you need to know what membrane potential is? Yes. Do you need to understand this whole "recording microelectrode" and "voltmeter" thing that the video is about to explain? No. :)

WAIT - draw this graph on your paper for #2!!! This is super important. Your graph should be about ~half a page big, with plenty of space available to add more information and labels as you continue watching the video!

The video you just watched discussed how an action potential works. Review the image below showing two neurons. As you can see, the action potential travels down the axon of a neuron, but does not jump from one neuron to the next. In order for a signal to get from one neuron to the next, that signal must be sent across a synapse. At a synapse, the axon terminal of one neuron sends signals to the dendrites of the next neuron.

We're only going to watch a portion of this next video that briefly discusses synaptic signaling.

Use the remaining space (#3) on your paper to take notes on synaptic signaling. Make sure to include labeled sketches of a synapse!! :)
