• Maria notices there isn’t anywhere by her house that she can practice soccer

• Maria talks to her friends and her soccer teammates about her concern and listens to their thoughts about it

• Maria and her friends research how parks can be built and by who

• Maria calls the mayor’s office

• Maria talks to someone at the Parks and Recreation departments and learns about the process for deciding to build a new park

• Maria creates a new, public Instagram account to gather her community’s opinion on the park

• Maria goes door to door with her friends asking community members for their thoughts on the park

• Maria sends notes from her door to door interviews and shares the Instagram page with the Parks and Recreation department
