Throughout this course, you will see many images from space.

In the Astrophoto Challenge, you will create a space image using the same data that astronomers use to study the cosmos.

First open the JS9-4L tool.

Question 1
1.

Once you are happy with your image, click on Image > Save as PNG and download the image to your computer and save it.

Upload your image here by copying and pasting the image below OR clicking the blue plus sign in the upper right and select "Image." Select your image from its saved location.

Question 2
2.

When astronomers create images, they make choices to emphasize features of scientific or artistic interest -- or both! NASA instruments, MicroObservatory and other telescopes can detect a wide range of colors. This includes colors that are visible to our eyes, as well as colors that are invisible to our eyes like infrared and X-ray light.

Please share why you chose the image(s) that you processed, and how you enhanced the visible and/or invisible colors in your image.
