Week 5 Reading Skills Review Quiz

“Which are you going to vote for?” Mikayla whispered to Brett. Their teacher was weaving in and out of desks, passing out ballots.

  “Ice cream,” Brett responded quietly.

  Another classmate overheard and scrunched his nose. “I can’t believe you would vote for ice cream,” he hissed. “Pizza is a much better choice for our reward party.”

  Mikayla’s stomach flip-flopped as she saw Brett look down at his desk and slump his shoulders.

  “I’m voting for pizza, too,” Mikayla said in a low voice, “but neither choice is better than the other.” 

   Quickly, she scribbled a note on scrap paper and passed it to Brett. It read, “If pizza wins, how about we go out for ice cream over the weekend?”

  Brett smiled and nodded vigorously in response.

Two popular social media applications have become very popular over the past several years: TikTok and Instagram. While both apps have their similarities, they are also different in many ways.   

   While TikTok focuses on videos, Instagram’s focus is on its photos. Like TikTok, Instagram has a feature called Instagram Reels, which allows its users to record 15 to 30-second-long videos. However, many users choose to only post photos instead of videos.  

   Both applications allow users to “like” posts. Many influencers use both apps to gain followers and capitalize on their popularity.   

  No matter which app is more popular, one thing remains true: these apps are not going anywhere soon.
