Next, type your BRIDGE. This will be a one sentence summary that introduces your characters to the reader. Pretend your reader has not read these stories - what is a quick way to introduce them? This should be a minimum of three sentences long.

You will now work on your Conclusion section. Make sure to follow the format. Refer to the sentence stems as needed:
A. Revisit thesis with new words (restate your thesis in a different way)
B. Briefly compare/contrast your three characters - how were they alike or different in the ways they portrayed a “role model”?
C. “So what?”: Why your definition matters for readers/teens today - Connect to real‑life leadership role models and why these type of figures are significant or important to those around them.
Read over your answers, recheck everything and use the Step 6 checklist to make sure you missed nothing! Have you done all of this? Then answer yes below and bring Mrs. Gardner ALL your graphic organizers to let me know you are done and have submitted this assignment.
You should have completed Steps 1-4 at this point. For Step 4, type your thesis in the box below as it should appear with YOUR selected information. Remember, your thesis is your claim, what you are stating to be true about your writing, and lets your reader know what your paper is about.
Next, type your "hook" - a surprising fact or thought provoking question about role models. This will be the first line of your paper. It should make the reader WANT to read your essay!
Next, briefly define the key terms you are using - these are the qualities you choose to talk about in your paper. Write them out as complete sentences as if explaining them to the reader so they understand what you are writing about.
Finally, copy the thesis you already created in the box on your page.
Next is the outline of the first Body Paragraph - this will be the Mother figure you chose to write about. Format your answer to follow the outline - remember you have already found the evidence and created the explanation for this!: (refer to the sentence stems on your handout as needed)
A. Topic sentence: Person + quality that proves your definition
B. Evidence #1 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
C. Evidence #2 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
Do the same for Body Paragraph II - your first Outsiders character. Follow the format.
A. Topic sentence: Person + quality that proves your definition (different from 1)
B. Evidence #1 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
C. Evidence #2 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
Now do this for the 3rd Body Paragraph - same format - use your research.
A. Topic sentence: Person + quality that proves your definition (different from 1 and 2)
B. Evidence #1 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
C. Evidence #2 (quote/paraphrase + citation) & Reasoning: How/why this shows role‑modeling
