Have you ever climbed Green Mountain? I’ve climbed it several times, but the best time was with the Garcias in 2009. Mr. Garcia and his son didn’t have a very healthy lifestyle at home. They ate a lot of junk food and didn’t exercise a lot. But they only took challenging vacations. They were bored with art museums and they thought beach resorts were disappointing. They loved bungee jumping in New Zealand, scuba diving in the Atlantic Ocean, or whitewater rafting in Colorado.
We climbed Green Mountain in one day, and we didn’t stop once. When we reached the top, I took photos and Mr. Garcia sang his favorite song. His son tried to make him stop, but Mr. Garcia just sang louder—it was quite funny. On the way down, Mr. Garcia told us, “Going down is often more dangerous than going up. We have to be careful of tripping over small rocks or tree branches.”
We got back to our campground just before it started to rain. We were all tired and hungry.
“I know we shouldn’t eat junk food,” Mr. Garcia said. “But I think we should order a pizza. What do you think?”
