“Time to fold in the semisweet chocolate chips,” Aunt Jasmine told Kai. “They’re not too sugary and not too bitter.” She showed him how to carefully scoop from the bottom of the bowl and move batter to the top until the chips were evenly spread throughout.

The oven was already warm when they put their tray of unbaked cookies inside. Aunt Jasmine had preheated it before they began mixing. When the cookies were done, Kai tapped his foot as he waited for them to cool. Finally, Aunt Jasmine gave him one to taste. “Delectable,” he announced happily, licking his fingers.

“We’ll send you home with a baker’s dozen for your family,” Aunt Jasmine said, counting thirteen cookies out. “Just make sure you don’t eat them all on the way!”

What word(s) from the sentence helped you determine the answer to question 7?

The life cycle of a butterfly is surprisingly short, lasting between 2 weeks and 18 months. A butterfly begins its life as an egg. The egg hatches and becomes a caterpillar. Once it is out of its egg, the caterpillar eats, and eats, and then eats some more.  The caterpillar must molt, or shed its skin, in order to continue growing. When it is big enough, the caterpillar spins spools of silken thread to create a cocoon. While it is inside, many changes occur. Soon, the once-caterpillar emerges from its cocoon transformed into a butterfly. Finally, the adult butterfly breaks free from its cocoon and flies away.
