Going to middle school may not seem like a big deal to adults, but it can sometimes be scary for upcoming middle schoolers. Most elementary schools do not have lockers, but when you go to middle school, lockers are where you will store your belongings. You must learn how to use a combination lock, which can sometimes be tricky! You also switch rooms for every class, which you may not have done in elementary school. Switching classes isn’t all that bad, though. You will get to know more teachers. If you don’t mesh well with your teacher or the other students in your class, you will only have to be with them for part of the day. Plus, you will meet so many new friends! There will be clubs, sports teams, and other extracurricular activities for you to try after school. Middle school may be hard at first, but you will get used to it and learn to enjoy the many things it has to offer.
“Are you excited about our animal project?” Thea asked as she sat down next to Belle, placing her backpack on her lap. They lurched forward in their seat as the driver headed toward the first stop of the afternoon.
Belle answered, “I am already thinking about whether to use clay or paper or maybe even found objects…” Her voice trailed off, and her eyes gleamed as she stared off, imagining the possibilities.
Thea replied, “I am not much of an artist, but I like doing the research and writing the report. There are so many animals I am excited to learn about. I don’t know how I will decide!”
Suddenly, both girls looked at each other. At the same time, they asked, “Want to be partners?”
