“Stay right there,” Amelia said to Joey who sat with his sippy cup on the couch. Amelia began changing Joey’s baby sister’s diaper, trying to recall everything she had learned in her babysitting class.
“There,” she said proudly, fastening the clean diaper. “What do you think, Joey?”
Amelia turned around, and her breath caught in her throat. “Joey?!” She had not heard him run away. Was she too distracted by the diaper change?
Her heart thumped loudly as she picked up the baby, planning to search the house, when she heard a giggle. She turned quickly and noticed a tiny foot sticking out from beneath a blanket in the corner of the couch. Quickly, she pulled the blanket off.
“Peekaboo!” Joey squealed with delight, and Amelia sighed with relief.
