“Welcome to Thurston High!” Emma said. “You must be Hailey.”

  The girl standing outside the guidance office smiled and looked at her shoes. “That’s me.”

   “Mrs. Davenport asked me to show you around,” Emma explained.

  Hailey handed Emma her class schedule as they walked. “Your first two classes, Math and English, are here in this wing,” Emma said. “We have Math together!” 

   Next, Emma showed her the Biology lab, and Hailey’s eyes gleamed when she saw the music room where she would have choir rehearsal.

  “After lunch, you have Social Studies and Spanish class in these rooms,” Emma pointed out. “Then a study hall and Economics back where we started.”

  Hailey’s stomach growled loudly. “Maybe you should show me the cafeteria,” she suggested, blushing, and both girls laughed.
