Esther had been trying to reach her mom for fifteen minutes straight, and she was exasperated. “Pick up,” she pleaded, but her call once again went to voicemail.
Pacing back and forth beneath her freshly blooming cherry tree, she superfluously checked her phone every minute or so. She knew it was unnecessary. It was not as though her phone would suddenly silence itself.
Her heart leapt as it finally rang. “Mom!” she practically shouted as she answered. “How did it go?”
“I got the job!” her mom exclaimed in jubilation. “I am so happy. They hired me on the spot!”
“ That’s wonderful!” Esther squealed. “I’ve been on pins and needles.”
“I’m sorry I kept you waiting,” her mom apologized. “Let’s go out for lunch to celebrate. My treat!”
Choose one of the words from question 7 and use it in your own sentence. Remember to use correct punctuation and capitalization.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and everyone should eat a healthy breakfast each morning. Eating breakfast has been shown to increase energy, improve concentration and memory, and help people maintain a healthy weight. To gain these benefits, choose a balanced breakfast that incorporates grains, dairy, protein, and fruits. Avoid eating cereals that are high in sugar. Even though they are delicious, they will not stick with you, and they may make you crave more sugary food. Anyone would enjoy eating scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and a fruit smoothie for breakfast. However, you may not have time to cook in the morning. In that case, it should be easy to pack a breakfast at night that you can grab on your way out the door.
