__________- This war was a U.N.-authorized military conflict between Iraq and a 34 nation coalition force tasked with expelling Iraqi forces from Kuwait in August of 1990.
__________- This event resulted in the Ayatollah Khomeini becoming Iran’s Supreme Leader. This event consisted of a cultural revolution, the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and a return to fundamentalism in Iran.
__________- This military campaign, which began in March of 2003, was an invasion of Iraq by a multinational force led by the US and UK as a result of 9/11. It resulted in an occupation and the eventual capture of Saddam Hussein. Western leaders alleged Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and posed an imminent threat to their security and that of their allies. Iraq with the help of the US created a democracy and executed Saddam Hussein.
__________- This occupation and conflict has been going on for over 1000 years over control of the Holy Lands between two different religions. Palestinians have been fighting for their own nation independent of Israel. The conflict is still ongoing with fighting between Israel and Hamas happening in the Gaza Strip.
__________- This conflict, which lasted from Sept. of 1980 to June of 1982, was a bloody stalemate, which resulted in one million dead or wounded and neither side gaining any territory. The conflict was fought over resources.
