Coloring has often been thought of as something that only children can enjoy, but coloring is actually just as enjoyable for teenagers and young adults. By taking time each day to color, a person’s overall health may improve immensely. Coloring reduces stress and anxiety that often come with school, work, and other commitments. It improves vision and fine motor skills, which are especially helpful for older adults who may struggle with arthritis. Coloring can also improve sleep and improve overall focus. Colored pencils and fine-tip pens are perfect for coloring intricate pictures and can offer the artist a variety of colors. There are many different options of coloring books to purchase, including Harry Potter, Disney, and more.

Matt checked over his shoulder as he crept toward his parents’ bedroom. He could still hear the clanking of pots and pans as his mom cooked spaghetti and meatballs in the kitchen. She thought he was in his room doing his homework.

Slowly, Matt turned the doorknob on the closet door. His heart fluttered as he snuck into the pitch-black space. Soon, he would finally know what he was getting for his birthday.

Just as he was about to turn on the light, his mom’s face flashed in his mind. He remembered how her eyes had glowed when she had surprised him with a new football on his last birthday.  With a deep sigh, he backed out of the closet and stood tall. “I can wait two more days.”
