We line the halls we’ve known so well,
Past classroom doors and ringing bell.
The desks, the boards, the books we’ve read,
All hold the thoughts inside our heads.
Our backpacks feel a little light,
But hearts are full, pulled warm and tight.
We’ve grown in ways we cannot see,
Like roots beneath a quiet tree.
We learned to question, speak, and try,
To fail, stand up, and reach up high.
To solve, to write, to understand,
To lend a voice, to take a stand.
Ahead, a path we’ve never known,
New rooms, new faces, all our own.
Excited steps, but still unsure,
We wonder what the days will store.
Yet like the bridge from here to there,
We carry all we’ve learned with care.
And though we leave, we don’t outgrow
The place that helped us start to grow.
