We know DNA contains life's genetic code, which means DNA carries the instructions for building our traits. This presents an interesting problem: if DNA has instructions to build proteins, how did the first proteins get built?

There are several different theories for where DNA got its origins from. The first video below summarizes one of the main theories: the RNA World Hypothesis. (If the video does not play on Formative, click the hyperlink above to play on YouTube).

Spørgsmål 1
1.

According to the RNA Origin of Life Video, what do scientists believe may have come before DNA and proteins?

Spørgsmål 2
2.

Why do scientists believe RNA may have come before DNA?

Select TWO correct answers.

Spørgsmål 3
3.

Which of these summarizes the RNA world hypothesis?

Scientists believe RNA came before DNA, but another important question is how DNA originally formed.

The next video below summarizes one of the most important experiments done toward uncovering the origin of DNA: the Miller-Urey Experiment. (If the video does not play on Formative, click the hyperlink above to play on YouTube).
