Section 1: Enzyme-Substrate Identification
Make sure that you are in the “Enzyme Behavior over Time” tab for this section.
In this section we will identify which enzymes react with which substrates and to determine what things are produced in each enzyme-substrate reaction.
Do not change the amount of each substrate - each should be set on 500 mM during this section.
Amylase - ensure that the temperature is 25 degrees celsius and the pH is 7 (between 6 and 8); then, click the green “run” button. Identify which substrate amylase acts on by finding the line graph that displays any upward slope. If the line graph displays a flat line then that indicates the enzyme did not act on that substrate. Indicate in the table, below, if change is detected in the top two and bottom-left line graphs.
