Creative Economy Final
In this class I have taken a closer look at the toll moving takes, with the goal to come up with a way to make it easier! Through this process I have researched, interviewed, and observed individuals, before, during, and after their moving process.
People, places, things, are more than just nouns, they all play a pivotal role in the moving process.
As you follow along in this quiz, you'll learn about some of my discoveries, and hopefully a little more about your own moving process.

The U.S. Census Bureau classifies the moving season as May through August. You can often find the streets littered with free furniture people no longer want around this time. Donation centers also report an uptake in inventory during these months. There are many challenges people face with moving. Some of the biggest ones are obvious.
Clearing out everything you no longer use, was one of the most reported stressors I've run into when talking to my community about moving. Finding a place for all of your stuff can be challenging. Friends and family are always a good place to turn for help. A storage unit comes in close second! The cost of moving is another huge weight that many people talk about.
Between UHauls, boxes, security deposits, and the price of a good strong person willing to lift that giant couch you swore you needed, it adds up quickly. Unforeseen challenges that accompany moving can also put a hole in your wallet.

And the one thing that every person said made the process easier?
Other people.
Having a community that is willing to lend a helping hand, was by far the most impactful thing that made moving less of a chore. In fact, it often brought people closer together and helped build relationships. To make moving easier, you have to involve other people. Asking for help is one of the best things you can do to take some stress off your plate.
Moving is more stressful alone.
Having people around during such a stressful process will absolutely make things easier. Keeping spirits high and making a game out of moving can even make the process enjoyable!
My final idea does a few things all at once.
It breaks things down into steps
It invites in other people!
It creates a sense of comradery
Drumroll please...
