PROCEDURE: Study the Pedigree Chart that shows a family’s pattern of inheritance for eye color.
Non-blue eye color (B) is dominant to blue (b) eye color.
Answer the questions in the Data Chart based on the Pedigree Chart.

REMEMBER:
  • Dominant: traits (non-blue eyes) are either homozygous dominant alleles (BB) or heterozygous (Bb, has a dominant allele and a recessive allele).
  • Recessive: traits (blue eyes) can only be homozygous alleles (bb) for the recessive trait.
  • Homozygous: means same alleles
  • Heterozygous: means two different alleles
REMEMBER:
Genotype: allele or genetics of the individual (BB, Bb, or bb)
Phenotype: physical appearance based on dominate/recessive alleles (blue or non-blue eyes)
