Two researchers submit their conflicting opinions about animal research.

Researcher 1 The benefit that animals have in research is widely known. Many of the successful treatments to ailments can be attributed to the use of these animals. There should not be a debate about whether or not animals should be used in testing. The benefits of such use is clear.

Researcher 2 Using animals to research human diseases is wasteful. Even our closest relative, the chimpanzee, does not have enough DNA that matches humans. When research on animals does seem promising, the same testing is not always successful on humans. Clinical testing trials on humans are best.
